Michelle is our Lead Practitioner and is responsible for the development and management of Swanton Morley Surgery, working in close partnership with Elmham Surgery.  A Nurse Practitioner is an experienced nurse who has undertaken a specific course of study to enable them to see patients with undiagnosed problems.  They are able to issue medication where needed.

The Practice Nurses are highly trained with particular interests and skills and manage a number of health promotion clinics and work at both surgeries.  for some problems, it may be more appropriate to see one of our practice nurses rather than a doctor.  Their responsibilities include:

Travel Advice

Diabetic Control

Health checks for men and women

Heart Disease Management

Family planning advice

COPD Management

Ear Syringing

Cervical Smears

Advice on Healthy Living

Minor Injuries

Smoking Cessation

Health Care Assistants

The Health Care Assistants are trained to take blood, ECGs and Spirometry.  They work at both surgeries.

 

The District Nurse cares for housebound patients. Although she is employed by Southern Norfolk Primary Care Trust and is based at Dereham Hospital, she can be contacted via the surgery on 01362 668215.

 

There are several other health professionals who work at the surgery but who are not the employees of the practice. They include the District Nurses, Sister Karen Seaman and Staff Nurse Pip Roache; the Community Midwife attached to the surgery, Karen Nichols; the Health Visitor, Elizabeth Small,  the Physiotherapist Claire Dye  and the Podiatrist, Michael Cummings.

Mr Daly has worked at the PCT and Health Authority and has retail experience.  He advise the Doctors and Nurses on good practice in Medicine Management.

The Reception staff assists with the administration of patient notes for the Health Authority.  Their responsibilities also involve welcoming patients, answering the telephone, arranging appointments and dealing with the notes, hospital letters and hard copies of laboratory results.

The Secretarial department consists of Mrs Vanessa Whitwood who is also the head of the department, Mrs Diana Peters,  Miss Amy Gray and Mrs Della Coles who are all responsible for all typing and general administration.  Miss Kayleigh Adcock administers and summarises new patients’ notes and is responsible for all GMS Claims.

 

Mr Daniel Milne is the Quality Manager responsible for audits and monitoring of standards across the practice. He also writes the newsletter for the Coronary Heart Disease Clinic and COPD Clinic.  Mrs Cynthia Goodge assists the Quality Manager, producing graphics and presentations, maintains the Practice Web Site, and produces The Surgery's Newsletters and Leaflets.
