Practice News: September Newsletter

Anima replacing AccuRx

As of the 20th of October 2025 we are pleased to announce we will be going live with Anima online triage which will be replacing the current AccuRx

The access will be the same via our website however the form will look different and may ask different questions.

Please do not worry. The new online form will be just as easy to use, and we are always here to help anyone who may struggle to fill out the forms. You can find a demo and further instructions on the website.

Cervical screening programme

From September, the NHS plans to start sending digital results from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme, utilising the NHS App.

In September, those who have a negative test result will be notified of this by an NHS App message. It will also appear as an NHS App notification. Abnormal result letters will continue, for the time being, to be sent by post. This change follows the successful rollout of digital invitations and reminders in June 2025. Since the launch, 9 out of every 10 invitations are being sent digitally, with the remainder being sent by post.

Patient charter

Further information on contacting your general practice can be found on the NHS website under “you and your general practice”.

Upcoming vaccination campaigns

We would like to encourage all of our patients, if you have not yet booked please contact the surgery to book in your Covid and flu vaccines. Please remember Covid and flu can be administered at the same time.

Why can’t I get an appointment?

  • In the month of August a total of 108 patients failed to attend their appointments which could have been offered to other patients.
  • This has cost the NHS £28,480 so far this year in missed appointments.

Medication from hospital

  • If you are chasing a medication, please initially ensure 7 working days have passed. If this is a medication we have prescribed you can track your prescription on the NHS app, SystmOnline or call the surgery and speak to our dispensary (Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm)
  • We cannot prescribe medication suggested by the hospital until we get a written letter stating the exact medication, dosage and frequency.
  • It can take 2 to 3 weeks following on from your hospital appointment for the clinic letter to be sent to us.
  • It is hospital policy that to avoid delay they should prescribe an initial 2 week supply of emergency medication.
  • If we do not have the hospital letter and it is an urgent prescription we may insist that the hospital team is contacted to provide the initial medication prescription.
